On the morning of April 28, the Centennial Celebration of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Commendation Conference for National Model Workers and Advanced Workers took place in Beijing. Zhang Jie, Chief Technician of Sinochem Xinghai, a subsidiary of Sinochem Energy, was honored as a “National Model Worker” and was invited to attend the commendation conference.

Zhang Jie has been stationed on Aoshan Oil Island for 27 years, solidifying energy security through technological innovation. In response to the flammable and explosive nature of petrochemical facilities, he developed a “four-in-one” gas monitoring and remote transmission device that enables real-time alarming of abnormal gases in confined spaces. As the project leader for the “Research, Development, and Application of an Integrated Tank Farm Metering System,” he overcame challenges in the construction of intelligent tank farms and established a precise oil tank metering system. The project was selected as an innovative initiative by highly skilled talents in Zhejiang Province. Zhang also established a Skilled Master Workshop, adopting a trinity innovation model integrating “technology research and development, talent cultivation, and experience sharing.” With this approach, he not only nurtured 28 highly qualified technicians in the electrical and instrumentation sector of petrochemical tank farms but also led his team in successfully tackling multiple technical challenges, transforming technological innovations into new drivers for the company’s growth. Zhang Jie and his team have actively fulfilled the mission of industrial workers in the new era, disseminating the spirit of craftsmanship at the grassroots level and sparking a wave of “learning technology and embracing innovation” within the industry. Through concrete actions, he demonstrates the responsibility and commitment of industrial workers in the new era.
