Sinochem Petrochemical Research Institute Successfully Develops New Hydroxylamine Antioxidant

Recently, the Polymer Materials Research Institute of Sinochem Petrochemical Research Institute, a subsidiary of Sinochem Energy, successfully developed the SHY042 hydroxylamine antioxidant. This antioxidant effectively addresses issues such as red/yellow discoloration on polyethylene/polypropylene film edges and fiber discoloration due to gas exposure, providing new technical support for high-quality polyolefin product development.

As a key additive in polyolefin production, the performance and cost of hydroxylamine antioxidants directly impact product competitiveness. Domestic counterparts have long suffered from low purity, high impurity content, unstable performance, and generally high market prices. To address this industry pain point, Sinochem Petrochemical Research Institute has developed an innovative synthetic process through multiple rounds of technological breakthroughs. This new process not only increases the purity of antioxidant products by over 50% but also significantly reduces production costs while markedly improving stability and compatibility.

Currently, the SHY042 antioxidant has completed industrial trials at Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical and has been successfully applied to a homopolymer polypropylene product. After precise market alignment by Sinochem Chemical Sales with end-users, the related products have gained high market recognition. To accelerate the transformation of technological achievements, the Polymer Materials Research Institute of Sinochem Petrochemical Research Institute plans a 100-ton/year additive production line for large-scale production by the end of 2026.
