On October 7, Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical’s 7,500-ton ethylene glycol chemical carrier “Xingtong 79” successfully berthed at the Waizoumadai Operation Area of Meizhou Bay Port (Meizhouwan Port), officially commencing loading operations. This marks the first large chemical vessel to enter the port since the widening and deepening of the Waizoumadai Northern Branch Channel was completed and put into trial operation on July 30 this year. It signifies a breakthrough in the upgraded navigation capacity of the Northern Branch Channel, ushering in a new phase of safe and efficient operations for Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical’s chemical transportation.

After the widening and deepening of the Northern Branch Channel, its two-way navigation capacity during all tides has increased significantly from the original 3,000-ton class to a 5,000-ton class, with single-voyage cargo capacity rising to 7,500 tons. This enhances the safety, flexibility, and efficiency of vessel entry and exit, substantially boosting single-vessel transport capacity and saving considerable logistics costs. Meanwhile, the berth capacity of the Waizoumadai Operation Area has been simultaneously upgraded, now capable of accommodating vessels up to 7,500 tons. It also effectively mitigates the impact of typhoons, monsoons, and abnormal weather, improving vessel scheduling efficiency and ensuring secure and stable logistics transportation.
