Recently, the 300,000-ton Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) New Honor safely and efficiently docked at Berth 10 of Qinglanshan Terminal under Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical. Earlier that day, another VLCC of the same tonnage, New Constant, successfully berthed at adjacent Berth 1 of Qinglanshan Terminal within the same tidal cycle. This marks the first-ever “two VLCC berths in one tidal cycle” operation in Fujian Province.
The “two berthings in one tidal cycle” pilotage model involves guiding two 300,000-ton VLCCs to dock at different terminals sequentially within a single tidal cycle. The successful completion of this operation will effectively reduce Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical’s crude oil tanker demurrage costs and transportation expenses, mitigate risks of crude oil supply disruptions caused by adverse weather, and further enhance the stability and resilience of its raw material supply chain.
